HVAC Design - Sustainable Systems

Since its inception, Turner Building Science and Design, LLC. (TBS) has emphasized designing mechanical systems that use less energy and have as small an impact on the environment as possible.  Most of our mechanical systems include the following design strategies.

  • Displacement Air Distribution
  • Low Maintenance Energy Recovery Units
  • Geothermal
  • Advanced Control Strategies
  • E-max zero energy consumption systems

Our Engineers work closely with Architects and Owners in an effort to address sustainable mechanical systems from a holistic standpoint.  Conventional buildings require HVAC systems with increasing capacities to compensate for added electronic loads and better ventilation. Sustainable features, such as energy saving windows and better performing insulation, can be substituted to result in a decreased HVAC system size, reducing both initial and operating costs.

In addition to designing systems that will save energy and reduce operating costs, Engineers at TBS study the service life and maintainability of the systems to be installed.  The end result is a mechanical system that minimizes energy use and maximizes longevity.
