Experience and Qualifications

Mr. Turner has 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of indoor air quality/HVAC evaluation and mechanical engineering HVAC/building science diagnostic programs in school, commercial, health care, laboratory, residential, and industrial settings.  Experience includes: HVAC performance evaluation, occupant complaint evaluation, air monitoring data collection, building science evaluations, quality assurance, technical report preparation, and specific recommendations for corrective action.

Mr. Turner manages a group of six experienced mechanical engineers and building scientists whose main responsibilities involve planning and conducting indoor air quality/HVAC and building science evaluations in complaint and non-complaint buildings.  He and his staff conduct building evaluations nationally and recommend appropriate mitigation as warranted.  Design and/or implement of corrective measures is also provided when requested.

Current research activities include assisting the University of Connecticut with building diagnostics related to a lung health study and conducting private research regarding radiant floors, ventilation performance, and fine particle assessment.  Mr. Turner’s group provides ongoing assistance to the Architectural Division of The H.L. Turner Group with the design of affordable, sustainable, healthy buildings for a variety of uses.

Mr. Turner is very active with professional societies, including serving on the National Technical Indoor Air Quality Advisory Boards for the American Lung Association (ALA), the Research Subcommittee of the Environmental Health Committee of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and service on USEPA Advisory Boards including Chairman of Diagnostic and Mitigation Subcommittee for the USEPA B.A.S.E. Study and Science Advisory Board. Mr. Turner was a principal author of the USEPA Indoor Air Division sponsored "Building Air Quality Guide", "Orientation to Indoor Air Quality Training Course", and recently available "Hands On Diagnostic Course".
